Over the past four yers, Ishmam has also been involved in various local advocacy projects through his work with the UBC Social Justice Centre. He hopes to spend his life being helpful in the struggle for a more just society.

Yvonne Deng (She/Her)

Campaigns and Communications Chair

Hello everyone! I am a second year medical student at UBC with an interest in health communication and social advocacy. Prior to UBC, I studied immunology at McGill University and spent some time volunteering as a piano teacher for children with special needs at a local community centre. My involvement in community initiatives fuelled my love for working and connecting with diverse populations and learning from their unique experiences. I joined PAC in hopes of improving my health advocacy and literacy skills, as well as learning more about the social and health issues affecting marginalized communities.

Nick Pang (He/Him)

Provincial Advocacy Committee Co-chair

Hello! Along with Sandra, I am one of the co-chairs for the Provincial Advocacy Committee working on the annual PAC policy paper and the Provincial Day of Action. I am in the class of 2025, coming into medicine with a degree in Pharmacy. My previous advocacy experience include working for the UBC Alma Mater Society, the Science Undergraduate Society, and the Pharmacy Undergraduate Society. Additionally, I severed three terms on the UBC Vancouver Senate, the highest academic governing body of the university to advocate for general student academic interests. I am excited to join PAC and pivot my strategies to advocate for our patients' and the public’s health. This year, Sandra and I hope to lead our committee to allow as many people as possible to contribute to the policy paper and have maximum attendance at the Provincial Day of Action. Please let me know if you are interested in contributing in any way!
