Provincial Advocacy Committee

Committee Chairs: Sebastian Lopez Steven, Preet Ghandi, Kathryn Haegedorn & Karanvir Gill

The Provincial Advocacy Committee (also confusingly named PAC) has the main goal of advocating at the provincial level during the Provincial Day of Action. Each year, the Provincial Advocacy Committee creates a policy paper on one issue selected by medical students which is then brought forward to provincial leaders at the provincial government in Victoria. The goal of the Provincial Advocacy Committee is to leverage our positions as medical students to amplify the voices of folks pushing for improvements to provincial policy related to health and healthcare. Past topics for this committee include universal access to contraception and addressing the overdose crisis. This year, the committee is working on the topic of housing insecurity and homelessness and its multitude of impacts to wellbeing and health.
